catbirdseat

You are in the best position. Your boat is sold. Boats are options, not necessities. You can walk any time you want. Don't let them push you around. If, however, you are this willing to walk, think long and hard about whether this is the right boat. At some point in your courtship, the admiral probably gave you a hard time. You were not ready to walk away. A boat is a love affair. If you are this willing to walk away, maybe you should take a look at what is available at the 'ball, dance, bar, internet dating site' down the road. When my wife knew that I was looking at other women, she told me to do so, just stop telling her how special she was. I realized she was that special and decided I didn't need to look any further. Just take your time and decide whether this boat is really the belle of the ball, or just a fling to get you through the summer.
You could go this year without a boat, and plan to charter over the winter, and start looking again next year if the right boat does not come along.
Again, you are in the catbirdseat.
