Replacing Profurl extrusion
In Response To: furler question ()

Hi J, I bent a tube on my Profurl through my own impatience. I was able to replace it
on the boat using a (new) halyard to hold up the mast.It was a lower section & I
did not need to lower the headstay/furler. I only have two external halyards to work with.I hope you don't have the problem I had..... my headstay had staylock fittings that would not pass through the foils,...I tried to disassemble the staylock fitting but no amount of persuasion would free up that S O B . I finally had to cut the wire
up close to the fitting to get the job done . If you have swaged fittings , they may pass through the foil, allowing you to to do the job. I didn't have a problem trusting the halyard to hold the mast , or later also climbing (being hoisted) the mast to replace the wire and lower fittings. If you have help and a pier or a long float, it would be easier to lower the headstay to work on it.Sorry to be so longwinded... email if you have any questions. good luck Bob
