And as was previously stated, if you have a mechaical fitting on the bottom end, don't even mess around. cut as close to the fitting as possible, and think about the distance lost. It may require a toggle being inserted either top or bottom. If you have a swage stud, no problem. disassemble the joints and slide them off up to the damaged one. And while you're doing this make sure the whole time you are repeating to yourself, "I love boats"
