Dyneema would work fine. Just keep an eye on chafe. We chose chain primarily because of its resistance to chafe and because it is easy for the customer to adjust the length to fit their particular situation. It also makes removing the slack between the crown and the shank end easy. Stainless cable or high or low tech line would also work.
