Most people on this board own a house along with a boat. We do not.
A few weeks ago we almost bought one. The inspection, along with my own observations, pointed out a lot of underlying issues on the 38 y.o. frame house.
The last time I owned real estate it was in 1992 - a condo (18 units) - brick and concrete -1949 built and solid as a rock.
Boats are maintenance intensive, at least ours is. How would you rate home ownership? House maintenance? How about grounds upkeep? Costs?
The taxes alone are the equivalent of marina dockage. It seems to me that weekend sailing and keeping a boat in a marina costs more than full time cruising. And I would want to keep the boat for summer cruises.
The task of furnishing a house from scratch is daunting. Anyone here ever swallow the anchor after many years of living aboard?
All thoughts appreciated.
