Our Seagull only worked downwind. It would get us as far away from the boat as it was possible and then quit. It would not restart until we lifted it back on the boats motor mount and let it sit for a day or more. Then it would start up as if nothing was wrong only to repeat its failure syndrome the next time we used it on the dinghy. Rowed back to the boat so many times that we began depending on it to crap out. It never disappointed us. Finally deep sixed it in a fit of passion when it quit one too many times. Rowed our Avon Redcrest all over French Polynesia. Great exercise and faster than the Seagull.
Has anyone mentioned the automatic dinghy oiling feature?? When the motor was tilted up beaching the dinghy, the gas in the carb leaked out. Kept the steel motor mount on the Avon from rusting as well as the Hypalon fabric.
