I have done over 120K sea miles. Done the Med: east one year to Turkey, west the next. Been across the Atlantic more times than I can say without looking it up in my logbooks. Did a circumnavigation '96 to '98. Visited Ireland, Scotland, England. Wintered in London. Sailed the Baltic. Gone through the Panama canal twice in my boat, twice crewing for others. Done the coconut milk run to NZ twice. Crossed the Indian ocean once. Did South Africa, etc.
Boat is a 1985 Nordic 44 that I have owned since 1990. Had partnerships in four boats before that and sailed lake Michigan based in Chicago while working and building the cruising kitty.
As most people who read my posts know, I am a big DIY boat maintenance person and have done 90%+ of my own work over the years. More recently I have been paying people to scrape and sand the bottom, etc.
Nell has been with me since 2002. This year we sailed from NZ to BC and are wintering in Bellingham, WA.
Ocean passages have gotten old and are more tedious lately. Living on a boat has limits. Space being the primary one - We would like some space to put all the stuff we bought while cruising. Many times I wish I had a workshop to do projects. I have other things I would like to do that simply cannot be fit into a liveaboard lifestyle.
