worth living on land is going to be expensive relative to a boat. Southern California has slip rents for a 40 foot slip at $800.00 per month plus an additional $300 for the live aboard status. If you start adding the taxes on the boat, bottom maintenance and general maintenance, fuel at $4.32 a gallon and the 800 bucks slip rent to the expense of a house or condo payment, taxes, electricity, cable, Internet, and it starts to add up. Now pile on a car and it's associated costs etc. and staying on board a bit longer starts to look pretty good. We already have the car, condo, and stuff so we just have to make the decision to actually do it. Our Yacht Club has a shop that I can use so I can't use that as an excuse so it's really a hard decision to make. I've been living aboard for 21 years. Hay, I've only been trying to move ashore part time for 5 years and we just bought a new inner spring mattress for the boat. Your just getting started. Good Luck.
