... as opposed to port tack. This a 25 year old Tartan 40, my sails Dacron cruising sails are in great shape, the bottom is clean, I'm fairly confident my rig is well tuned, in column, balanced. Weight seems to be evenly distributed > water, fuel, gear and so on, I don't notice any favor to one side. But I think I've noticed over the past few years she likes to go to weather on stbd tack rather than port, and she sure seems faster. I take the rig out every year, so I think I've eliminated this, as I've noticed this for at least a few years now.
I guess it could be that every time we're going fast, the current or sea may be fair, while on port tack we see the steep chop and foul current ! Of course, this could all be a hunch and just my imagination.
Any ideas ?
