Send it in checked luggage.

If you've got a Moore 24, one of the most enduringly popular and successful boats on SF Bay, centering the mast won't make any distance. When they decided to go into production, they used the hull of a one off prototype to make the mold. Wanted to give it a bit more beam so they did it the good old fashioned way. They jammed a board athwartsship and pushed the sides of the boat out. Strangely, the two sides weren't equally stiff so one side bowed more than the other. On the production boats, there is more than an inch of difference in the beam from one side to the other. YOu'll have to ask an owner which tack they sail better on.
