Seems most sail-makers now offer "deep reefs" where only 2 reef points are required, which is what Rolly Tasker did on my sails (geez going on 11 years now - time flies but nothing flies like a fruit fly) for us it seems to be appropriate as I rarely use the second reef but often (at least this year) utilize the first reef in winds at or over ~18 knots! and thinking about putting a reef in at 15!

But then again I have a relatively light 33.5'er given 9 knots of wind apparent I can easily reach hull speed (-7 knots) a heavier boat would likely make a different scenario.
