Protect you're main at all cost. Don't put a 3rd reef in er! Do that and use it under the most adverse of conditions, blow out the top portion and you're without a main! Buy, rig and use a storm trysail instead. Only had to use a storm trysail once in about 30k miles now. But I had it.
