I think the point made above is "diesel is diesel", and diesel engines might not be very particular about what kind of oil they burn (although the engine makers would say otherwise, in long-term effects). Valvtec is better because the additives are already there, and presumably they get the blend right. It's a convenience thing.
Valvtec gas also contains additives and stabilizers. Nice.
Is it just a marketing claim? Maybe. It makes me feel good though.
