Well, I use a lot of fuel going up the outside of Baja

and in Mexico in general and transferring fuel at sea from 6 gallon jugs becomes very problematic when a sea is running. In order to make the transfer easy I plumbed into my tank a fitting that attaches to a 1/2 inch hose that is connected to a 500 gallon per hour Jabsco Water Puppy with a Nitrile impeller. The intake to the pump is connected to a 20 foot hose which has a 2 foot copper tube connected to it. The end of the copper tube has a cap so as to keep any excess fuel from dripping out and the hose clean. It's function is to keep the hose from bending inside the 6 gallon tank while picking up the fuel down to the last drop. Between the pump and the pickup hose there is a fuel filter with a replaceable cartridge so I transfer clean fuel. I can take the pickup hose out on deck and never have to move the 6 gallon tanks and, of course, never have to lift and pour any fuel. Also, if I'm taking on fuel from a somewhat "iffey" source I can first pump it into a 6 gallon jug and then pump it into my tanks through the filter while not having to use a "Baja Filter". I have used the system for several years and it's well worth the cost of installing it.
