The kids now have cell phones. Watched one girl down island climb up on top of a building to get a cell signal. We were in San Ignacio de Tupile the day Bin Ladin was killed and one of the indians came up to us to inform us of the issue. Silla Tomas served in WWII with the US and it's odd we think that the culture should remain ignorant of the changes happening in the world. Over 1/2 the population lives outside of Kuna Yala. They stay connected to their families just like anyone else.

I once complained 30 years ago in the Bahamas about the changes. A fellow cruiser asked me about what it will be like in 20 years and be thankful that I'm there now!
