In addition to wired gps, we have hockey puck for laptop, iPad 3G (has built in gps, doesn't need cell connection), 2 iPhones, and older garmin 45.
I have found iPhone gps to be a bit inconsistent but probably ok for backup. IPad is with navionics is great and used more than anything else
