Vineyard Haven no good to provision either...

being a West Coast Farm Boy, I was surprised to walk Vineyard Haven and find it to be pretty ho-hum, given all the hype I have heard over the years about MV and the Black Dog and such. And the anchorage quite exposed.

We stayed in Oak Bluffs a couple of days that were supposed to blow from the NE (and did) and found that to be a much more to our liking in most ways. Took the bus over to Edgartown and walked around, but did not enter the harbor.

In Oak Bluffs, there is the distinct advantage of Martha's Vinyard Back Door Donuts Bakery. They made an apple fritter that was remarkable.

But from Maine to the Chesapeake, almost without exception, the best coffee was onboard Anomaly. We use the Robbiati Atomic Coffee stovetop espresso machine with fine ground dark Italian roast. The local coffee houses varied between mediocre to downright awful - the latest being Ahh Coffee in Eastport, which we nicknamed Ahhhful Coffee after a visit.

Both fitters are on 12" paper plates. For reference, Starbucks left, Martha's Vineyard Bakery right. Size and quality are superb!
