There are many challenges to making a web site into a successful business. Not one to be negative, but I spent about 5 or 10 minutes there and don't think I'll be back anytime soon due to content. The weather presentation is very clear and gives needed sailing info, the layout is good, but there are other sites that are better at being weather sites. The local business organization is also very nicely presented.
IE-9 popped a message saying it's only showing secure content, do I want to display all content? -- so somewhere in the home page there is content being shown with an HTTPS link mixed with other unsecured content. That needs to be corrected for anonymous (not logged-in) users.
Activecaptain.com will continue as my go-to online cruising guide. Its content is nicely integrated with my PC navigation software (Coastal Explorer) and can be viewed offline and synced, it doesn't force advertising in my view and it's reviews are not tainted by an advertising agenda. CE gives me charting, and when online also overlays satellite views with selectable transparency. I subscribe to wunderground.com for ad-free weather and email weather alerts, but am also considering other weather sites on a subscription basis.
