• Any suggestions for a boat that backs poorly?

    • It is a real crap shoot as to where I am heading in reverse.
    • "Stern thruster", good answer. That's what I have.
    • Give it a shot of power and put it in neutral

      • For getting in and out,, the spring is a great method
    • A spring line will do the job for sure.

      • No moorings, no bow thruster.
    • I've seen a few in 31-footers, and also noticed that newer Island Packets have molded in flat spots for the tunnel (!)

      • Ok, I gotta say it. I have always found the spring line to be a pain in the ass.
        • And the prop walk. Make it help you when you fully understand it's potential.
          • My boat does that. While I couldn't back out, I may be able to back into Genes slip.
            • It's that "no boats around" practice time I really want.
              • If you have a dock, I find it better than trying it in open water.
