If memory serves, this shop has been in continuous operation building wood gondolas since the 17th century. Oh my. The tide is up a bit as you can see by the flooding on the yard. The boat on the saw horses appears to be a more modern boat they have built. There's another on the right, out of sight. The fire is one of the guys burning scrap. He lit it with a plumber's size blow torch. Behind the fire are two wooden gondolas on horses. If you peek inside the doors on the left, you see a gondola framed and side planked upside down on horses.
They do not allow visitors here for any purpose...unless you know someone. I didn't but a two person film crew got in while I was hovering. This photo is telephoto from across the canal where even school children taking photos knew the signifigance of this place. Most new gondolas are fiberglass.
