The son of my friends in Casale met me in Venice as it is his favorite place. He showed me the ropes, so to speak, of getting around and so on. He's a teacher and historian. I said hey, gondolas of Burano. He said, not really. They look like gondolas but are work boats of Burano. I confess the distinction is more subtle than my ability to discern. Burano is famous for its colors of houses and apparently, these wooden boats, too.
