Now you're going down the coast in a 50', 2 story, dual engine trawler. On the eve of your 25000 blog hit, I was thinking about it's popularity. Besides your entertaining writing and great photos, your situation is sort of unique. I know you found yourself in the trawler world serendipitously(you were looking for housing), instead of the usual route some sailors take to trawling(is that word?), after they age.
I'll follow your blog daily (it's great!), but I have some questions best answered here. You're sort of a double agent, powerboater over "there", sailor at heart in "here". There's always been some distance between power boaters and sailors. Most of it is cliche' stuff("ragger bagger",... "stinkpotter", etc). But there is some basis due to different speeds, and stuff.
Especially when you get to plowing through the ditch. After a couple trips through the ICW, we met tons of people on sailboats but I can't recall meeting many (any?) on power boats.
So what's your read? How do power boaters you meet feel about sailors? How do sailors treat you on the water in Driftaway? Are powerboaters and sailors different people?
