In the Western Caribbean the trawler/Nordhavn types we cruised with were wonderful, going out of their way to help the sailors that needed anything. There weren't always that many of them, but they were a part of the overall cruising community. And they could be very helpful when a boat got stuck, which of course, never happened.
Back in Florida, I agree, there seems to be a big chasm between anyone with white things above their boat and those that zoom by us...
