Long story short I have a Verizon "Unlimited Data Plan" and currently use an Android phone. I am grandfathered into it and Verizon will honor this so long as I don't give it up. Every time I visit the store their associates try to swindle me out of it, but I'm not that naive.

I wanted to make my phone a wi-fi hot spot, for the iPad on the boat, and was willing to pay more to do this. The problem was that Verizon wanted to take my unlimited data plan away and replace it with 2GB / month and nearly $50.00 as opposed to the $29.95 I now pay for unlimited data.

Sorry Verizon this customer jail broke his phone and now has wi-fi, and unlimited data, and you get no additional money, WHICH I WAS WILLING TO PAY if I could keep my current plan......Dumb move on your part...

If you want the freedom to use the data you pay for you might consider jail breaking the phone.. My data use has never exceeded 2GB per month but it was the point of it that pissed me off....
