And a "developer discount" from early days working with Qualcomm... and yes, I run into the same sales pitch every time I go in. Many years ago they looked at my then early smart phone, and tried to tell me I should not use it as it did not have E911... I then proceeded to show them it had both GPS and E911. This was an old Kyocera/Qualcomm/Palm flip phone. (7135) Sadly, no manufacture has come out with a smart flip phone since. Right now it is a "how big is your screen" race.
The other annoying issue is a race to thin... with the Moto Razor in the lead, but cheating as the whole device is not the same thickness. Frankly I wish they'd simply add more battery capacity rather than try to achieve some "ideal" supermodel thinness. Remember the days when you could go for over a week without charging a cell phone?
