Might be more now, but Maine is not one of them and considering the administration and make-up of our current legislature, I don't think we have much to worry about right now.
As much as I abhor government interference in our lives, I will say that there are a lot of people on the water that would likely benefit from a little education. But to require someone like you, with God knows how many miles under your keel, to get "certified" is laughable. You could very likely teach the USCG Auxiliary instructors more than a few things about sailboat operation.
Kind of funny how the course claims to be "Designed for both experienced and novice sailboat operators." Seriously? They really think one size fits all?
