In the latest Sail Magazine I read an ad that touts the ability for Garmin's MFD to "search through the charts" at all scales to find the optimum route to a selected destination point, avoiding obstacles, and steer the boat using the AP.

No thinking allowed. I can't imagine trusting all that to go right every time. (I bet Garmin's lawyers insist on some sort of pop-up disclaimer before you put that recipe for disaster in play).
