Anything is too much.

Don't like towing a dingy. Besides the loss in speed it's just dangerous. Conditions can change is short order and you're scrambling to secure it. Better to bite the bullet, deflate it (or not) and put it on the foredeck, that is unless you're motoring and only for a short bit. We don't need to tow as it's a big boat and has davits but every time we've towed the dingy because we were lazy we've had problems. Because of that, for us it's a non issue. We just don't tow.

If you need to tow your current dingy either get a smaller one and put it on deck or get a bigger boat and put it on davits.
