We used a food vacuum sealer and vacuumn our foul weather gear into pancakes. We have 4 little pancakes stored in the back of the hanging locker on a shelf. The problem with a pilot house is that during foul weather while you're in your sweat pants, "T" shirt and socks, you actually have to make an effort to put down the cup of hot chocolate and actually go outside and feel what's going on. Just looking at the instruments while the windshield wipers are going doesn't get it. All of a sudden you say to yourself, "Boy, we're really on and angle! Maybe I need to do something?" Other then that, IMHO, you can't beat a Pilot House sailboat. We can get out of the sun and out of the cold and still sail the boat on a good day.
