Our closest weather protection is a deep low dodger that only affords decent protection to the bridgedeck. Going into rain last weekend, I wished for windshield wipers so I didn't have to get wet taking an occasional peek.

If you don't live onboard, and can pick the weather you want to move in, we find we don't need quite as much protection. We even need to fold the dodger back at times to get the best breeze under the bimini.

When it's wet out, you really appreciate a dry cabin for an overnight or a few days if you're off for a few weeks. A sopping wet cockpit isn't too inviting, but it's expected at times.

The closest our boat comes to a liveaboard would be a seasonal summer cottage.
