Prop Shaft Nut ... castle nut w/SS pin or brass Nylock Nut ...

... or double nut, with thin nut on first ?

How many of you lap the prop to the shaft ? Is it true if the prop comes off (easily) without a puller, then it is on incorrectly ? Because a properly fitted prop will be held on by a close fitting taper ? And therefore you should not apply grease to the shaft over the taper where the prop fits ? I've also heard of folks sweating on a prop, is that overkill and can it damage the prop ?

I understand when using a Nylock Nut, it should only be used once, not repeatedly. And of course the shaft key must be positioned (filed down if necessary) so the prop does not bottom out against it, in other words, when the prop is seated on the taper, the key should be able to slide back & forth.

Thanks, cheers, John
