Had a problem with his feathering prop -- it as similar to a Max Pro, but made in Maine. We were in SW Harbor. A diver buddy of ours was working on getting it off the shaft, then "adjusting" the keyway on the shaft, then reintalling it.
As he said, it was a "bear" to do it underwater. They had it tied-off, because dropping it wasn't a reasonabl option.
It's amazing to me what a good diver can do.
But I'm with you, the cost of a quick haul could have been abated for his 5 hours of time horsing that 30" or more prop off- and the replacement on-. At that point, if the diver can't take care of the "adjustments" and corrections, you'd have to haul it anyway. Of course a "quick haul" on boat that size is more a expression than a reality.
