By instead of using the tapered plugs, I found a clear plastic shaft the same size as my prop shaft. I tied a line around the prop & shaft and Jill stood on the dock. I then went inside, loosened the packing and used the plastic shaft to push out the metal one.

*** IT WAS STRANGE to look down there during the day. A dark bilge area with this eerie glowing green eye looking back at me!!!!!

Like you, just reverse the process to replace the prop.
