I have added the Pactor to our shut-down/storage check list.

The box under the steps has two uses. The door on the left side has my quick grab small tool bag. Under the steps next to the bag storage is space for 2 group 31 batteries, 2/3 of our house bank.

I thought about another switch, but I figure the fuses are OK for it.

I am about to also re-do the steps. You are correct about them. But, what I plan to do is use resin to set in walnut shell, the stuff they use to do sand blasting. It's about the same color as the teak in the steps and will not peel up like the old treds we used to use. sort of teak non-skid. I think it will look a LOT better.
