Isle of Shoals. I too like the 17-85 for regular use.

On my 35 mm long ago, I had an 80 to 210 zoom (there abouts) and used it alot. But I have yet to put a longer lens on this old(now) 40D. When I see some great long lens shots, I get the urge. It must be the sailboat subject that I've spent most of my shooting on in the last decade that has me more interested in the short lens view of life.

That shot of Isle of Shoals puts me there. I know that lonely patch of water best in the dark. MA is taking another digital class at the Workshops. It's good as I get refreshers looking at her notes and get a look at the new end which is moving so fast. We went to the last show of mostly film making classes. It's energizing to be around the people that are moving through this media as an occupation.

We were talking about the likes of how Orne and Billy B would capture the motion off the decks while sailing. They reach for their video camera now. I see their video work on the likes of Morris Yachts regularly.
