We have 1 Antal electric multi purpose winch on the starboard side companionway area. 5 lines with brakes so I don't need to go forward at night or in bad weather. Never had a problem with the winch but have had a problem with the button switch and the winch didn't stop when I took my toe off (we have the switch mounted so our toe can activate it leaving both hands free, great idea if the config is appropriate.)

Put a red panic switch near each winch. If it doesn't stop for some reason you can hit the switch to stop it. I believe a panic switch at every electric is essential. People have lost hands because of a runaway winch. Happened last year to a guy that came to rescue a woman with a run away winch.
