When replacing the acrylic in our opening hatches I ordered a case which was the only way the supplier I found would sell it. It is not actually a tape but a 1/4" round section of extremely sticky and stretchy butyl. I put 2 beads around the groove in the Lewmar aluminum frames and pressed it with some clamps to the final rectangular cross-section. After about 5 hears it is still working fine. Drop me a line and I can shoot you a roll so you can look it over. nwigen at comcast dot net. I have used it on a number of smaller sealing jobs over the past couple of years and have always been happy with the results.
The Lewmar hatches used butyl for the seal and GE UltraGlaze as the adhesive in a 2-stage system. The butyl was still soft and sticky when I pulled them apart. It must have a service life close to a century.
