I was safely off it.
Can you imagine the flack on the interweb if you got the crew off, but for whatever reason things went wrong to the point where you couldn't get off and died because you started scuttling the boat before you were safely off? 
(scampering onto a huge oil tanker in 15 foot seas isn't a "gimme")

- The CS' rudder (like the Valiant 40's) is a modified skeg rudder.
