My favorite is Georges, a scant 30 minutes from Bumkin. You can venture through the Gut again or go skirt east and around Peddock's island for a nice harbor sail. George's has several moorings or you can anchor just off the entrance to the fort. Dinghy into the dock as the beach is very pebbly and steep. Once ashore, pull out your lanterns as the fort abounds with dark passages to explore. Anchor anywhere for the evening. Anchorages abound in the harbor and you can find protection from nearly every wind direction.
On early start motoring into Boston's Inner Harbor just to see the sights is a nice diversion to quiet life on the water. If you're lucky, the airport runway on your starboard side will be active with jets taking off and landing what seems to be 50 yards overhead. Pull into Lincoln wharf for an expensive tie up to visit the city for a few hours.
