... are not social. They are all beautiful places, lovely anchorages, incredible beaches, hardly any, if any services, you won't see many other boats. Fresh water will be hard to find, perhaps you have a water maker. Of the places I named, only Landrail Point will you find provisions, restaurants and so on, and fuel you will have to jerry. The only real spot for activities, groceries, fuel, water, etc. between DR and Exumas is Georgetown, where you should be able to find just about anything you need, and if not ever been, probably should go. The good news is that starting about now, boats will be clearing out of the southern Bahamas, so you should have most anchorages to yourself, even in Georgetown. After Family Island Regatta, which I think is next week, G'town will be near empty, quiet and quite lovely then. If you all like to fish, make sure to troll whenever moving, you are likely to catch Mahi, and maybe you get lucky with a yellowfin. If you like to pole spear or sling, the reefs in all those areas should be very good for grouper, hog fish, snappers. Lobster are out of season now. The other part of the good news is the Fronts from the States should be ending about now, you probably won't see one. I do think the best weather in the Bahamas is from March to June. Your biggest weather issue will be afternoon t-storms and squalls. And, you will have to pay attention, the spring usually sees one or two LO systems that can be nasty with wind & squalls, or just ugly for a few days with socked in tropical stuff and rain, hopefully not.
From where I left off in previous post, if no one has seen the Bahamas, you should do the Exuma Chain going north. By the time you get there, most the boats will be gone. The Exumas are incredible, also popular. I prefer to run north from Conception, DO NOT MISS THIS, to Cat, then either run outside of Eleuthera to Harbour Island on the north end, one of our favorite places, or go up the bank side and poke along the Settlements and towns along the Bight after Cape Eleuthera. But again, this only as we have been through the Exumas many times, if you've not done that you should. You can still get to Harbour Island, north Eleuthera, from north end of Exumas via Spanish Wells. I really like Harbour Island, the St. Barts of the Bahamas, very fun, lots going on.
I would probably skip Nassau unless you need something or someone needs to fly in or out. You won't have any issue with 6.5 feet, there will be some places you can go, but not many, and just go on the tide.
On the north end, after spending time in the Out Islands, Exumas and down south, you could be disappointed with the Abacos. They're ok, sort of like the States in the Marsh Harbour area. Using the Abacos to stage to States is a good idea. The Berry's can be cool too, not a lot of area to see and really nothing in terms of services. But, we've gone in there for a night and wound up staying a week or two because we were having fun and the weather was perfect. From here it is about 30 hours to Florida Coast, Stuart/Ft. Pierce.
If you want more specifics let me know, be happy to give you better info. Have fun !
