Yes it was a bad day. But another friend had stern drive on his FP knocked loose in the Dismal Swamp Canal. He told me that the engine compartment is separate from the rest of the boat and even with it opened up the boat will not sink.

I don't know how true all that is or the extent of the damage they really incurred. I've never looked at one seriously so I'm only commenting on what other owners have told me. And any cruiser knows what that is worth.
