Photoday! Another coastal sailing season is coming to an end. What's a season?

For us, that's about 1200 nautical miles in 2013. Mostly our range is the coast of Maine, but I get the urge to "stretch my legs" often these last few years, and head to southern NE for a few weeks which makes 2013's range from our mooring about 200 NM.

We spent about 30 nights onboard in 2013. That seems to be on the low side averaged over the last 20 years, but not far off years we spent more time aboard(with kids).

We've burned about 80 to 100 gallons of diesel(I'm still in the water) so far in 2013. I've enough data for me to know, when I increase "range", I use more diesel/nm. In 2013, rough calcs. show when sailing home waters, our ratio is 1/3 diesel to 2/3rds wind propulsion. When stepping out into S.NE, our ratio was about 2/3rds diesel to 1/3 wind propulsion.

We used about 300($60) pounds of ice, about 400 gallons of water and about 15 pounds of dog food. A good season.
