In the image below you can see a turnbuckle that tightens the net. A 1/4" cable runs through the edges of the net, and there is a plastic tube sewn inside the selvage (seam at the edge) to allow the cable to slide inside. Over the years that plastic tube has shifted and no longer protects the net material in some spots, and the plastic has degraded and cracked.
I'd like to have someone replace the tubing over this winter. I was thinking in terms of PEX plumbing tubing, as it's available and cheap. But perhaps you could suggest something better. The plastic MUST be resistant to cutting/wear as the cable slides within, and must be low friction to allow sliding under tension (fairly high loads in the high hundreds of pounds). It should also be UV resistant as it will be exposed at the ends. Any advice?
