I have "crumb scuppers" on all of

my corners as well. They're made so that they are on an angle up from flush with the counter top to about 1/8 of an inch through the width of the fiddle. The corners are cut away about an inch and a half in either direction. The slight upward angle of the scupper keeps the crumbs on the counter until you want to wipe them away. I suppose it's a bit more work to do it that way but it works pretty well and looks good.
