Yikes it's hot in there

This week I added a tee kit to my propane locker line so I can easily use my BBQ with the system. In a classic case of project creep I decided to replace the 30 year old solenoid and regulator. When tidying up the wiring after the solenoid had been energized for a while I noticed the solenoid was hot, 170 deg. F. It is new trident unit from West Marine. Beside the obvious issue of hot spot next to propane I am using a lot of unnecessary amps to heat what I want cool. A little checking around and I found hot solenoids are not a new issue. I have an AFC 151 unit on order to replace the trident, it runs cooler I have read. I have #14 wire with quality shrink terminals.
