The loads aren't even or equal at the head, clew, or tack.

If the sail is flat and gets a load, the tension on the line is much greater, for example.

On your boat, I would use the size line you currently have because the controlling issue is your comfort with handling. Stay with the tapped SS fastener size, etc.

I would suggest that the out haul adjustment be closer to the gooseneck because it is easier and safer to adjust on a reach AND you will need to store more line if you have a six to one system, if the range is a foot plus 4' of tail, you'll need 10' of line coiled up. (Say at least 7'-8')

Our out haul runs back to the cockpit, that may be too much screwing around and routing challenge for you.
