All those diagrams show the fwd block attached to a pennant - recommend you attach to a thru bolt thru the boom. At least the fwd end won't twist and tangle.
Purchase? Not sure what I'd recommend, as I'm not sure what I've got.
My tail goes into a small bag under the boom, secured to the boom (loose foot main) with a couple of straps and velcro. Same bag also hold the tails of the two reefing lines.
