I don't mind the bills, but getting change back is a pain.

Uh, well, I always carry a coupla hunnerd and pay cash MUCH more often these days.
I use cash exclusively in local stores
Using cash in local shops raises your status above those who use plastic.

I use checks for larger purchases at places like Hamilton Marine
HAD to write two checks yesterday for home insurance-flood and windstorm premiums
The paper check, is almost history.
