When we head down to our cabin we really try to support the local shops and businesses. These folks have to pay a fee to process a purchase with either a debit or credit card so paying with cash is very much appreciated. The local lumber store will give you a 10%discount if you pay with cash. Could also be that some of those cash transactions also never make it to the tax reporting books, IMHO of course.
