I think that the Yanmar's (gm series, right) fuel injection system works differently and won't self bleed. I have always had to crack the bleeding screw while running the electric pump. It doesn't take long, just enough to get a steady stream of fuel and you will only loose about a tablespoon worth.

How did you like changing the Dahl filter? A total PITA that takes three hands.
